In Loving Memory

Gary L. Grizzell of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life November 16, 2020 at his home.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lois Sewell Grizzell and son Tyler Grizzell, brother Merle Grizzell and wife Linda of Franklin, TN, sisters Elaine Waters of Knoxville, TN, and Paula DeMarini and husband Tom of Atlanta, GA.  He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ruth Grizzell, father Floyd Grizzell, brother John Grizzell and grandparents Isaac John and Julia Sanders Grizzell and Will and Pauline Cooley Hale.

Through the years Gary preached for Churches of Christ in Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.  He was founder and  co-director of Preaching the Whole Counsel of God England Lectureship held at the Oliver Cromwell homeplace (2001-2007).  He also taught several terms in a mission school in Murmansk, Russia.  Gary was a prolific writer, editor and publisher.  He authored many books, articles, tracts, contributed to numerous lectureship books and maintained an evangelistic website on bible subjects.  His effort to “make tents” led to secular endeavors: inventor/patent holder, writer of song lyrics, and children’s books.

A graveside service was held on November 20, 2020.  Eulogists were his brother Merle Grizzell, brothers-in-law Charles Sewell and Dr. Tom DeMarini.  The interment site is at Highland Cemetery in Sparta, Tennessee.

We will endeavor to recreate Gary’s Website so that his work and the work of those he published will be available long into the future bringing Glory To God and faithfully teaching the truth of God’s word.
